The present invention addresses the problem of a discrepancy between the generation and imaging of a pattern. The individual object identification device has a generation unit and an imaging unit. The generation unit generates a pattern on an object. The imaging unit, upon detecting the generation of the pattern, captures an image of the generated pattern.
