Abstract:
An insertion device in which: a first driving force toward a tip direction acts on an insertion part as a result of a rotating unit rotating in a first axial-rotation direction during an entire-circumference pressing state where a pressing force acts on a spiral fin around the entire circumference; and a second driving force toward a base-end direction acts on the insertion part as a result of the rotating unit rotating in a second axial-rotation direction during the entire-circumference pressing state. The insertion device is equipped with a reference-position determination unit for determining the reference position, which is the position of reference for the insertion part, and a movement-displacement calculation unit for calculating the rotation direction and rotation amount of the rotating unit on the basis of the drive direction and drive amount of a drive member, and calculating the movement displacement from the reference position of the insertion part in a direction parallel to the longitudinal axis.
