Abstract:
An integrated barrier fluid sealing apparatus (10) includes an annular pressure intensifier (14) surrounding a shaft (12) of an operational device and defining a chamber (18) extending around and along the shaft (12) and containing a barrier fluid (B). The integrated apparatus (10) also includes an annular sealing arrangement (16) mounted to the pressure intensifier (14) and surrounding the shaft (12) so as to provide a seal around the shaft (12) such that the pressure intensifier (14) and sealing arrangement (16) cooperate to prevent leakage of process fluid (P) along the shaft (12) to an external environment (E). A visual barrier fluid volume indicator mechanism (56) also is provided which cooperates with operation of the pressure intensifier (14) to visually indicate the volume of barrier fluid (B) in the chamber (18) of the pressure intensifier (14).
