A problem to be addressed by the present invention is to improve precision in recognition of a lane marker on a road. This lane marker recognition device is for recognizing a lane marker on a road from an image photographed with a camera 101, said lane marker recognition device comprising: a processing region setting part 201 for setting a processing region with regard to the image; a statistic computation part 202 for computing a statistic of the image in the processing region; a threshold setting part 203 for setting a plurality of thresholds on the basis of the statistic, that is, a white line threshold and a road surface threshold; a lane marker characteristic point extraction part 205 for classifying, on the basis of the white line threshold and the road surface threshold, a plurality of pixels included in the image, and extracting a characteristic point of a lane marker on the basis of the result of the classification of the plurality of pixels; and a lane marker determination part 206 for determining the lane marker on the basis of the characteristic point extracted by the lane marker characteristic point extraction part 205.
