Abstract:
A light transmission system is provided with a light transmission device and a light reception device. The light transmission device is provided with: a conversion unit which converts each of a plurality of binary data sequences into data having a predetermined signal format; a coding unit which generates a plurality of coded data items by performing predetermined coding with respect to each of the plurality of converted data items; a light signal generation unit which generates a plurality of light signals by converting each of the plurality of coded data items into a light signal; and a mode multiplexer which converts each of the plurality of light signals into a different mode, generates a mode division multiplexed light signal by performing mode division multiplexing, and transmits the generated mode division multiplexed light signal to the light reception device. The light reception device is provided with: a mode splitter which splits the mode division multiplexed light signal transmitted from the light transmission device into different modes of light; a photoelectric conversion unit which converts each of a plurality of different modes of light into an electric signal; an analog-digital conversion unit which converts each of the plurality of electric signals into coded data; and a MIMO equalization process unit which performs a MIMO equalization process with respect to the converted coded data.
