Title:
REVERSE SHIFT CONTROL APPARATUS FOR AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSIONS
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/1988/000304
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
A reverse shift control apparatus for an automatic transmission mounted on an automobile, capable of preventing the automatic transmission from being put in to a backward-engaged state even when a shift lever is set in a reverse range while the vehicle runs forward at a speed not less than a predetermined level. The predetermined shift valves (11), (12) are provided with ports (Rc), (2k) to both of which a line pressure is supplied in the reverse range of a manual valve (10), as well as ports (2i), (2l) which communicate with a hydraulic servo (B3) for frictional locking elements (for example, first and reverse brakes) adapted to be engaged when the vehicle is moved backward. When the manual valve is in the reverse (R) range with a vehicle speed not less than a predetermined level (for example 7 km/h), the above-mentioned shift valves (11), (12) are switched on the basis of a signal from a control means (U) to discontinue the communication between the ports (Rc), (2j) and between the ports (2k), (2l).
