Abstract:
Disclosed are a method and apparatus for brain age-based monitoring of age-related cognitive decline. The method for monitoring cognitive decline may comprise the steps of: estimating a structural brain age, which indicates a degree of aging in a patient's brain structure, by means of a magnetic resonance image of the patient's brain; estimating a functional brain age, which indicates a degree of aging in the patient's brain function, by means of a perfusion magnetic resonance image of the patient; estimating a metabolic brain age, which indicates a degree of aging in the patient's brain metabolism, by means of a magnetic resonance spectroscopic image of the patient; determining the patient's actual brain age on the basis of the structural brain age, functional brain age, and metabolic brain age; and determining a degree of cognitive decline of the patient on the basis of the patient's chronological age and the actual brain age.
