One embodiment of the present invention relates to a method and apparatus for encoding/decoding images using the effective selection of an intra-prediction mode group. An embodiment of the present invention relates to a method and apparatus for encoding/decoding images, which involve selecting an intra-prediction mode set using a pixel of a block adjacent to the current block, and generating a predicted block using one prediction mode of the selected intra-prediction mode set, thereby improving compression performance.
