The present invention provides a method for manufacturing a positive-electrode active material for a lithium secondary battery, the method allowing short-time and efficient sintering of a precursor containing nickel. According to the present invention, a method for manufacturing a positive-electrode active material for a lithium secondary battery has: a mixing step for mixing a lithium carbonate and a compound containing a metal element other than Li; and a sintering step for sintering a precursor obtained via the mixing step and obtaining a lithium composite compound, wherein the sintering step has a heat-treatment step for heat-treating the precursor while rolling the precursor in a furnace tube (10) of a kiln (1), the kiln (1) is provided with: a first air supply system (30) for jetting an oxidizing gas; and a second air supply system (40) for causing the oxidizing gas to flow in the axial direction of the furnace tube (10), and, in the heat-treatment step, heat-treatment is performed while spraying the precursor with the oxidizing gas in the furnace tube (10) and exhausting, with an air flow, carbon dioxide generated from the precursor.
