Abstract:
Problem: To provide a method for manufacturing a sliding member, a method for manufacturing a damper, a sliding member, a damper, and a method for adjusting ride comfort that improve retention of lubricant oil between sliding members while increasing operability, thereby allowing to sustain smooth sliding of the sliding members. Solution: A method for manufacturing a sliding member that carries out a sliding operation in the presence of lubricant oil, the method comprising: a first polishing step of polishing the surface of the sliding member by using a polishing tape with a first whetstone in a circumferential direction of the sliding member to form a plurality of grooves circling around in the peripheral direction on the sliding member; and a second polishing step of polishing the sliding member after the first polishing step to form a plateau-shaped surface cross-section in a longitudinal direction of the sliding member.
