Abstract:
Provided is an economically advantageous method for efficient production using readily available raw materials by a single reaction associated with thermal decomposition, with HFO-1234yf, which is useful as a new refrigerant, in a well-controlled state, wherein production of CTFE, which is a byproduct that is difficult to separate from HFO-1234yf by distillation, is suppressed and high-purity HFO-1234yf is obtained. Provided is a method for producing HFO-1234yf from R40 and TFE having: (a) a step for feeding R40 and TFE, separately or premixed, to a reactor; (b) a step for feeding a heating medium to the reactor; and (c) a step for bringing the R40, TFE, and heating medium into contact inside the reactor and producing HFO-1234yf; wherein the temperature inside the reactor in step (c) is adjusted to 400-870°C.
