Abstract:
The purpose of the present invention is to provide a production method whereby 4-isopropyl-3-methylphenol can be selectively produced, and also whereby 4-isopropyl-3-methylphenol that is easily purified and has minimal odor or coloration can be efficiently produced. The present invention overcomes the problem by providing a method for producing 4-isopropyl-3-methylphenol characterized in that a 4-halogenated-3-methylphenol or a phenol derivative thereof and an isopropyl metal compound are caused to react in the presence of a catalyst and a solvent.
