Abstract:
To provide a method for producing chlorofluorobutane (CFB) by dimerizing trichloroethylene (TCE) to generate chlorinated butadiene and fluorinating the hydrogen atoms of this chlorinated butadiene. Trichloroethylene (TCE) is dimerized at a temperature of 100°C or more in the presence of a free radical generator using a dimer represented by formula (1) from TCE as a solvent. Hexachlorobutadiene (C4Cl6) is produced by chlorination and dehydrochlorination from the dimer, and the hexachlorobutadiene is fluorinated to produce chlorofluorobutane (CFB).
