Abstract:
The main problems addressed by this invention are the provision of: a method for producing insulin-producing cells from somatic cells without artificial gene transfer; insulin-producing cells obtained using said production method; and a composition containing a combination of chemical substances which can be used in said production method. This invention is, for example: a method for producing insulin-producing cells by direct inducing differentiation from somatic cells, characterized by including a step in which somatic cells are cultured in the presence of an RSK inhibitor; insulin-producing cells obtained by said production method; and a composition for producing insulin-producing cells from somatic cells by directly inducing differentiation, being a composition for producing insulin-producing cells by directly inducing differentiation from somatic cells, characterized by including an RSK inhibitor. The insulin-producing cells obtained by the present invention are useful in regenerative medicine and the like.
