Title:
METHOD OF SCREENING CARCINOGENECITY OF CHEMICAL
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2005/024020
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
It is intended to provide a method of screening carcinogenicity of a chemical which can be conveniently and highly reproducibly carried out at a lower cost within a short period of time; and a microarray and a gene set appropriately usable in screening carcinogenicity of a chemical as described above. The expression amount of a liver cancer-associated gene, from among genes involved in mammalian genome, is detected. More specifically speaking, a chemical having known carcinogenicity and another chemical having unknown carcinogenicity are administered to mammals or their liver cells are treated by these chemicals. Then mRNA is extracted from vital liver cells of mammals of the chemical-treated group and mammals of the untreated group and the expression amount of the target gene is analyzed. Based on the results of the analysis, clustering analysis is further carried out to thereby screen the carcinogenicity of the chemical having unknown carcinogenicity as described above. A gene set comprising a probe hybridizable with the base sequence of mRNA transcribed from the target gene as described above or a sequence complementary to the mRNA as described above. A microarray having this probe loaded thereon.
