Abstract:
A method for suppressing fatigue crack progression in a bent section of a metal plate according to the present invention suppresses the progression of a fatigue crack in a bent section 3 formed by bending a metal plate 1. The method involves generating compressive residual stress by applying plastic strain at least within a range from a bend start point to a bend end point on the inside of the bend of the bent section 3 in a direction orthogonal to the valley line direction at an interval less than the plate thickness of the metal plate 1 along the valley line direction of the bent section 3.
