Abstract:
The purpose of the present invention is to provide a method for producing β-cryptoxanthin that realizes improved production efficiency. The present invention provides a method for producing β-cryptoxanthin by culturing bacteria belonging to genus Paracoccus at a prescribed dissolved oxygen level, wherein: the bacteria belonging to genus Paracoccus are bacteria that form a yellow to orange color colony; or bacteria with endogenous crtW gene partially or completely deleted or inactivated and thus unable to generate functional crtW enzyme.
