Abstract:
A technique for the noble-metal plating of a surface of titanium. When a partly gold-plated
separator for fuel cells, for example, is produced, the following procedure
is conducted. First, a titanium member which is made of titanium or a titanium
alloy and is for use as a separator for fuel cells is prepared (S10). This titanium
member is a titanium member having a carbon-containing substance adherent to
the surface thereof. This titanium member is subjected to a first heat treatment
at a given first temperature in the range of 300-700°C (S20). Thereafter,
the surface of the titanium member which has undergone the heat treatment is plated
with gold (S80). Thus, the titanium surface can be more easily electroplated with
gold.
