Abstract:
A method whereby 2,3-dihydroxybenzoic acid can be produced using phthalic acid as a starting material, said method comprising expressing 5 kinds of novel proteins participating in the conversion of phthalic acid into 2,3-dihydroxybenzoic acid or genes encoding said proteins. A method whereby salicylic acid can be produced using phthalic acid as a starting material, said method comprising expressing 4 kinds of proteins, from among the aforesaid 5 kinds of proteins, or genes encoding said 4 kinds of proteins.
