Abstract:
Provided is an optical fiber cable which is configured by having a sheath that houses a core assembly of optical fibers, wherein a prescribed water stop characteristic can be achieved while satisfying a sufficient mechanical characteristic. The optical fiber cable is provided with: a core assembly (1) comprising a plurality of optical fibers (11) and water stop threads (12); a tape body (2) that covers the core assembly (1); and a cylindrical sheath (5) that covers the core assembly (1) and the tape body (2). The tape body (2) is permeable, so that when water enters inside the tape body (2) the water stop threads (12) dissolve and the dissolved water stop material flows inside the sheath (5).
