Abstract:
An optical fiber production device according to the present invention includes: a drawing furnace for melting a glass base material and forming a drawn glass fiber; a coating unit for coating a glass fiber with a resin layer to form on optical fiber; and a directly-beneath roller disposed directly beneath the drawing furnace to change the moving direction of the optical fiber; and a capstan for receiving the optical fiber. When the directly-beneath roller is viewed from a direction orthogonal to the rotation axis of the directly-beneath roller, the run surface of the directly-beneath roller on which the optical fiber runs is flat or convex. The width of the run surface is 2 mm to 10 mm.
