Abstract:
The present invention provides: an optical modulator module that is capable of detecting a propagation delay in light between two different points on an optically continuous path in a highly-precise manner and with a simple configuration; an optical modulator; and an optical modulation method. The optical modulator module (100) has a working part IR1, a working part IR2, and an optical modulation part (2). Input light (1) passes through the working part IR1. The working part IR2 is positioned on a path that is optically contiguous with the working part IR1, and the input light (1) outputted from the working part IR1 passes through the working part IR2. The optical modulation part (2) converts the input light (1) outputted from the working part IR2 to an electrical monitor signal (MON). The working part (IR1) changes the amplitude or phase of the input light (1) in response to an electrical drive signal (SG1). The working part (IR2) changes the amplitude or phase of the input light (1) in response to an electrical drive signal (SG2), to which a time delay has been added. The output timing of the electrical drive signal (SG2) is adjusted in response to the electrical monitor signal (MON).
