Abstract:
The present invention promotes the aggregation of particulate matter. The following are provided: an electrode provided in the exhaust passage of an internal combustion engine, the voltage applied thereto being changeable; a detection device that detects current running through said electrode; a determination device that determines the presence or absence of current pulses in the current detected by the detection device; and a control device that decreases the applied voltage if the determination device identifies a current pulse.
