Title:
POROUS COPPER ELECTRODE FOR ELECTRIC DISCHARGE MACHINING, AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING POROUS COPPER ELECTRODE FOR ELECTRIC DISCHARGE MACHINING
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2007/129749
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
In order to impart a further dramatically improved performance to a porous electrode
based on the results of fabrication involving a very advantageous feature realized
by an invention directed to a porous electrode, an additive substance is added
to the porous electrode to activate thermal electron emission and field emission,
whereby large fabrication speed and small electrode consumption can be realized.
A method for manufacturing a porous copper electrode for electric discharge
machining comprises adding one of or a plurality of powders of high-melting material
such as carbon, W, or MO, oxides of metals such as Cu2O, CuO, BaO, or SrO,
borides such as CaB6 or NdB6, or carbides such as WC, TaC,
TiC, ZrC, or MoC to copper powder, mixing them to disperse the additive materials
in the composition, press molding the dispersion by a mold such as a powder alloy
mold, and sintering the molding to produce a porous copper electrode material.
