Provided are a positive electrode active material that can improve cycle characteristics and that contains lithium iron phosphate, and a manufacturing method therefor, as well as a secondary battery comprising a positive electrode containing the positive electrode active material. The positive electrode active material has lithium iron phosphate as a main component, and contains iron phosphide and an oxygen-containing layer formed on the surface of the iron phosphide.
