Abstract:
A process for producing a fiber-reinforced resin material is provided in which reinforcing-fiber damages and deficiencies are diminished and the fibers are easily positioned and stacked, and in which the resultant stack can be easily accommodated to the shape of the mold during molding. The process comprises: a step in which a fiber-reinforced resin sheet (4A) is produced from a reinforcing-fiber sheet (2) and a resin sheet (3A) constituted of a thermoplastic resin; a step in which the fiber-reinforced resin sheet (4A) is molded so that protrudent parts (4c) are formed along one direction on one surface (4a) of the fiber-reinforced resin sheet (4A) and recessed parts (4d) are formed along that direction in the other surface (4b); a step in which such resultant fiber-reinforced resin sheets (5A) are stacked while engaging at least the protrudent parts (4c) of each fiber-reinforced resin sheet (5A) with the overlying fiber-reinforced resin sheet (5A); and a step in which the stacked fiber-reinforced resin sheets (5A) are molded into a fiber-reinforced resin material while pressing and heating the stacked fiber-reinforced resin sheets (5A) so that the thermoplastic resin infiltrates into the reinforcing fibers.
