Abstract:
The present invention relates to a rail traffic detector comprising: - a movable arm capable of at least one forward motion, and in particular intended to be set in forward motion under the effect of the passage of a rail vehicle wheel, - an arm restoring means capable of producing at least one return motion of the arm, - a braking means, - an engagement and disengagement device capable of engaging the arm and the braking means in a driving relationship, and of disengaging them from the driving relationship, - a means for detecting the motion of the arm. This detector is characterised in that the braking means comprises a magnetic brake and a driving element. The present invention further relates to a method for detecting rail traffic by means of a detector according to the invention.
