　Provided is a scanning lens comprising a portion for image-forming light rays and comprising a portion for synchronous detection light rays in the end part of the portion for image-forming light rays. The scanning lens satisfies θ1 < 180° and θ2 < 180°, wherein a first boundary point is the boundary point between the incident plane of the portion for image-forming light rays and the incident plane of the portion for synchronous detection light rays in a cross section of the scanning direction containing the pathway of principal light rays while arranged in the scanning optical system, θ1 is the outside angle formed by the incident plane of the portion for image-forming light rays and the incident plane of the portion for synchronous detection light rays at the first boundary point, a second boundary point is the boundary point between the exit plane of the portion for image-forming light rays and the exit plane of the portion for synchronous detection light rays, and θ2 is the outside angle formed by the exit plane of the portion for image-forming light rays and the exit plane of the portion for synchronous detection light rays at the second boundary point.
