Abstract:
Provided are a seal ring and sealing structure capable of keeping the seal ring from running into the leading end of a housing when a shaft is inserted into the housing by reducing the displacement of the central axis line of the seal ring with respect to the central axis line of the shaft. The seal ring is characterized in that: the seal ring is configured from a thin section 100A, the radial thickness of which is thin and which is provided in a range of less than 180° in the circumferential direction, and a thick section 100B, the radial thickness of which is thicker than the thin section 100A as a result of being configured to protrude further inward in the radial direction than the inner circumferential surface of the thin section 100A; an abutment section 110 is provided in the thin section 100A; and over the entire inner circumferential edges of the two side surfaces of the thick section 100B, respective recesses 120 for forming clearances from the corners of the two edges of the bottom of a circular groove provided in the housing are formed.
