Abstract:
A seed-crystal shaft for single-crystal growth by the solution method is provided which prevents or inhibits polycrystal generation in the solution method and enables a single crystal to grow at a high rate. The seed-crystal shaft for single-crystal growth by the solution method is a seed-crystal shaft for use in an apparatus for producing a single crystal by the solution method. The seed-crystal shaft comprises a seed-crystal support member and a seed crystal bonded to the support member through a carbon sheet having high thermal conductivity in the direction perpendicular to the surface of a raw solution, the carbon sheet being a laminated carbon sheet obtained by laminating a plurality of thin carbon films by means of an adhesive, a laminated carbon sheet comprising a plurality of small pieces differing in laminating direction and disposed in lattice arrangement, a rolled carbon sheet obtained by concentrically rolling a carbon strip from the center, or a multilayered rolled carbon sheet obtained by rolling a plurality of carbon strips differing in thickness so as to form a multilayered roll in which the strip thickness increases from the center toward the periphery.
