Abstract:
Provided is a setting device enabling a quick setting operation while an input means is placed at hand for ease of operation. A setting device is provided with: a display means 1 for displaying vehicle information of a vehicle; an input means 2 comprising a mutual capacitance type touch panel disposed at a position away from the display means 1 and capable of being operated with an indicator, such as the fingertip of an operator on the vehicle; and a control means 6 that controls a display on the display means 1 on the basis of the vehicle information and a signal from the input means 1, wherein the control means 6 receives the signal based on a change in electric field caused when the indicator approaches the input means 1, determines whether the signal is within a predetermined threshold value, and, on the basis of the result of the determination, modifies the display on the display means 1 as the indicator approaches the input means 2 and before the indicator contacts the input means 2.
