Abstract:
The purpose of the present invention is to provide a novel silyl group-containing poly(vinyl alcohol)-based (PVA) resin which exhibits excellent adhesion to an inorganic adherend such as glass and which has a short defoaming time, and to provide a use for this PVA-based resin. This novel silyl group-containing poly(vinyl alcohol)-based resin contains vinyl alcohol units, side chain 1,2-diol structure units and silyl group-containing units. An aqueous solution of this silyl group-containing poly(vinyl alcohol)-based resin exhibits excellent defoaming properties and excellent adhesion to an inorganic adherend such as glass, and is therefore useful as an adhesive agent.
