Abstract:
This sleep control apparatus is for controlling sleep of a subject (12), and comprises a sleep onset control unit (S107) and a sleep maintenance control unit (S108). The sleep onset control unit sends the subject into sleep and causes the sleep depth of the subject to transition to stage 1 or stage 2, by applying prescribed stimuli capable of inducing the subject to sleep by a stimulation device (31). The sleep maintenance control unit enables the subject to maintain sleep while keeping the subject's sleep depth within a range between stage 1 and stage 2, by applying prescribed stimuli for allowing the subject to maintain sleep through the stimulation device after the subject has been brought into sleep by the sleep onset control unit. In addition, while the subject is asleep, the sleep maintenance control unit causes the stage-2 sleep depth to emerge in such a manner as to make a first cumulative time, which is calculated by summing up the durations in which the sleep depth of the subject was maintained in stage 1, longer than a second cumulative time, which is calculated by summing up the durations in which the sleep depth of the subject was maintained in stage 2.
