Abstract:
Provided is a solar cell 10 which uses heat to generate electric power, the solar cell comprising: an absorption layer 11 having a semiconductor material which generates first and second carriers by receiving light; first and second electrodes 12, 13 provided on the absorption layer; a first filter layer 14 which is provided between the absorption layer and the first electrode and controls the movement of the first carriers from the absorption layer to the first electrode; and a second filter layer 15 which is provided between the absorption layer and the second electrode and controls the movement of the second carriers from the absorption layer to the second electrode, wherein the first and second filter layers are composed of a semiconductor material having an energy gap larger than the energy gap of the absorption layer, causes the temperature of the absorption layer to be increased by heat, and can improve the conversion efficiency of the solar cell by making the temperature of the absorption layer higher than the temperatures of the first and second electrodes.
