Abstract:
This superconducting coil is provided with: a bobbin; and at least two rectangular superconducting wire material layers over an outer peripheral surface of the bobbin, the layers being formed by winding a rectangular superconducting wire material that includes an NbTi-based or Nb3Sn-based wire material the surface of which is covered with copper or copper alloy and that has a substantially rectangular cross-section, along a substantially circumferential direction of the bobbin such that wire materials adjacent to each other in the axial direction of the bobbin are arranged side by side in a state of being separated from one another. At least a thermoplastic fusion resin is included at: a separation section between wire materials adjacent within the same rectangular superconducting wire material layer; and a separation section between adjacent wire materials located respectively in two adjacent rectangular superconducting wire material layers. A void that can be formed and demarcated by the outer surfaces of a total of three rectangular superconducting wire materials, and/or a void that can be formed and demarcated by the outer surfaces of a total of four rectangular superconducting wire materials, such wire materials being located in two adjacent rectangular superconducting wire material layers and being adjacent to one another as seen in a cross section that includes an axis of the bobbin, is 4% or less in terms of void ratio, which is an area ratio relative to at least two rectangular superconducting wire material layers.
