A radar device is provided with a transmission unit for transmitting continuous radar waves at a prescribed period, a reception unit for creating a beat signal (BT) by mixing received incoming waves with the radar waves, and a signal processing unit for carrying out target detection processing for detecting a target that has reflected the radar waves. In the target detection processing, a signal value is extracted from the beat signal generated by the reception unit at a prescribed time interval that is the reciprocal of the frequency of a direct component, an approximation curve of the plurality of signal values is calculated as a direct component signal, and a target signal is generated in which the calculated direct component signal has been subtracted from the beat signal (S210). The target that is the source of the incoming waves is detected (S290, S300) on the basis of the results of frequency analysis of the target signal (S220 to S260).
