Abstract:

The purpose of the present invention is to provide a thickener and a control method for the same with which a high concentration slurry, in which the slurry has a high concentration, can be obtained from the base part of the thickener in a step that involves a thickener, such as a solid-liquid separation step. Provided are a thickener and a control method for the same for increasing slurry concentration in a slurry obtained using solid-liquid separation equipment provided with a plurality of thickeners used for concentrating a slurry in hydrometallurgical processing of nickel oxide ore, wherein: the thickener has a rake attached so as to be movable in the vertical direction of the thickener and rotatable around an axis of rotation which is a central shaft part provided in the thickener, and a proximity switch for adjusting the lower limit position of the rake during operation; and the proximity switch is set such that a position separated a distance of 25 - 35 cm above in the vertical direction from the structurally absolute lower limit position of the rake is the lower limit position of the rake during operation, thereby increasing the concentration of slurry obtained below the rake.
