Abstract:
This toroidal continuously variable transmission is provided with: a rotation shaft; a first disc and a second disc; at least one power roller; and a ball spline that supports the first disc on the rotation shaft. The ball spline includes: a plurality of balls that are disposed in a ball housing part formed between the outer periphery of the rotation shaft and the inner periphery of the first disc; and a stopper that prevents the plurality of balls from slipping out of the ball housing portion and moving toward the shaft end. The stopper includes: a cylinder body that is externally fitted to a stopper placement part; a plurality of pins that project in the axial direction from the cylinder body, with at least the tip sections thereof being inserted into the ball housing part and not contacting a groove wall; and an inner flange that projects radially inward from the cylinder body, and is engaged with an engagement surface.
