Abstract:
The present invention addresses the problem of, in the production of a useful foreign protein in a transgenic bird, achieving such a production amount in the egg albumen as being the same or more than the expression amount of the useful foreign protein in the case of using an ovalbumin promoter or an actin promoter, and achieving such an expression amount as being predictable prior to sexual maturation, while regulating the expression amount in organs other than the oviduct so as to avoid excessive load on the bird. Provided is a transgenic bird having, on the chromosomes in cells constituting the oviduct thereof, a nucleic acid base sequence in which an avian endoplasmic reticulum chaperone promoter is functionally attached to a nucleic acid base sequence encoding a useful foreign protein. Also provided is a method for producing a useful foreign protein, said method comprising a step for harvesting the useful foreign protein from a transgenic bird. Also provided is a method for producing a transgenic bird, said method comprising a step for introducing a nucleic acid base sequence, in which an avian endoplasmic reticulum chaperone promoter is functionally attached to a nucleic acid base sequence encoding a useful foreign protein, on the chromosomes in cells constituting the oviduct.
