Abstract:
This transparent composite substrate has a composite layer comprising a glass fabric configured by a glass fiber aggregate and a resin material with an Abbe number of no less than 45 impregnated in the glass fabric. Despite there being variability in the refractive index within the glass fiber aggregate itself, the difference between the maximum and minimum values of the refractive index is no greater than 0.01. Consequently, it is possible to provide a transparent composite substrate with excellent optical properties and a highly reliable display element substrate provided with the transparent composite substrate. Additionally, the resin material preferably has an alicyclic epoxy resin or alicyclic acrylic resin as a main component.
