Abstract:
When the gear of a transmission for transmitting the torque of a motor (MG2) to a drive shaft is changed with the accelerator pedal being off or slightly depressed, an upper limit speed (Nmax) is set (S140) by using a varying rate (Nrt) of a smaller value (N2) than a value (N1) of no speed change, and a target speed (Ne*) of the engine is set (S150 to S170) by using that upper limit speed (Nmax), so that the engine may be run at the target speed (Ne*). When the accelerator pedal is depressed to demand a high demand torque (Tr*), therefore, the rise in the speed of the engine is suppressed, and that component of the power to be outputted from the engine, which is used to raise the speed, is reduced, so that a higher power can be outputted to the drive shaft.
