Abstract:
Provided is a drive device with which it is possible to reduce the size of a planetary gear mechanism, reduce the size and weight of the entire drive device, reduce the dimension between the tip ends of an output shaft for outputting rotational torque, said tip ends protruding in directions opposite to each other, and further improve vehicle stability. External sun gears (22, 23) are coupled to an input shaft (12). Planetary carriers (28, 29) are coaxial with the input shaft (12), are adjacent to planetary gears (24, 25) in the axial direction thereof, and have external gears (32, 33) that rotate together with the planetary carriers (28, 29). Ring gears (26, 27) that respectively mesh with the planetary carriers (28, 29) are rotatably supported and rotate in mutually opposite directions by means of a differential mechanism (60). Intermediate gears (34, 35) and input-side gears (42, 43) are respectively fixed to intermediate shafts (14, 15), said intermediate gears (34, 35) respectively meshing with the external gears (32, 33). Output gears (44, 45) that respectively mesh with the input-side gears (42, 43) are respectively fixed to output shafts (16, 17).
