Abstract:
Provided is a wavelength selector switch with reduced crosstalk and a more compact size. The wavelength selector switch includes: one or more input ports; one or more output ports; a polarization adjustment device that adjusts the polarization state of light incident from the input port; a dispersing element that splits wavelength-multiplexed light incident from the input port; and a deflector element that controls the deflection of the split light. The dispersing element is a liquid crystal diffractive element having a liquid crystal alignment pattern in which the orientation of the optical axis derived from the liquid crystal compound is continuously rotating and changing along at least one direction in a plane.
