Abstract:

To provide a method for removing a musty substance capable of easily removing a musty substance at a low cost and a water treatment apparatus capable of removing a musty substance.SOLUTION: The present invention provides a method for removing at least one of geosmin and 2-MIB contained in water to be treated and a water treatment apparatus 1 capable of removing a musty substance, in which the method for removing the musty substance comprises a mixing step of mixing a cyclic compound capable of forming an inclusion compound with at least one of geosmin and 2-methylisoborneol and water to be treated, and an ion exchange treatment step of bringing the water to be treated, mixed with the cyclic compound, into contact with the ion exchanger, and the water treatment apparatus 1 capable of removing the musty substance includes mixing means 30 for mixing the water to be treated and the cyclic compound, and ion exchange processing means 40 for bringing the water to be treated, mixed with the cyclic compound, into contact with an anion exchanger.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
