Abstract:
To provide an apparatus for removing thrombus and other unwanted material from a vessel such as a relatively large artery and vein.SOLUTION: A thrombectomy apparatus comprises: an elongate shaft (100); an evacuation lumen (104) extending in the elongate shaft (100) to a distal end (102) of the elongate shaft (100), and having an opening on the distal end (102) directed to the distal end side; a high pressure lumen (108) extending in the elongate shaft (100) and connected to a supply source of compressed fluid. The evacuation lumen (104) is connected to a suction source. The high pressure lumen (108) terminates near the opening of the evacuation lumen (104) in the evacuation lumen (104). The opening of the evacuation lumen (104) forms a right angle with a long axis line of the elongate shaft (100). The high pressure lumen (108) terminates at one or more injection holes (110) oriented in the evacuation lumen (104).SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 8
