To provide a technology that can reduce power consumption and display an image more suitable to a user.SOLUTION: A display unit of the present invention comprises: display means that displays, on a screen, an image based on input image data; and control means that performs control of decreasing, compared with an upper limit of a display luminance range of a first area in the screen of the display means, an upper limit of a display luminance range of a second area other than the first area in the screen of the display means, so that the power consumption of the display means becomes equal to or less than a predetermined power consumption.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
