Abstract:
To provide a spool valve type shock absorber which can generate attenuation forces in an elongation stroke and a contraction stroke without generating a seating sound.SOLUTION: The spool valve type shock absorber includes an attenuation force generation device 16 comprising a spool valve element 52 which is reciprocally fit into a cylindrical portion 14A, and pressurized by a pair of compression coiled springs 54, 56 from both sides. The cylindrical portion has openings 48, 50 for a first elongation stroke and a first contraction stroke, and the spool valve element has openings 66, 68 for a second elongation stroke and a second contraction stroke. When a piston 14 is displaced to a cylinder 12, the attenuation force generation device 16 displaces the spool valve element 52 by a pressure difference between a cylinder upper chamber and a cylinder lower chamber, and changes a degree of the overlap of the openings for the first and second elongation strokes in the elongation stroke, and a degree of the overlap of the openings of the first and second contraction strokes in the contraction stroke.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
