Abstract:
To provide a lathe capable of determining a failure of a cooling device even if a sensor for detecting the failure of the cooling device is not attached separately, and provide a lathe system.SOLUTION: A lathe 1 and a lathe system SY1 include: a rotatable main shaft 11; a main spindle motor M1 having built-in temperature sensor S1, and rotating the main shaft 11; a cooling device 40 for cooling the main spindle motor M1; and a failure determination unit U1 for determining that the cooling device 40 results in failure, when the change (ΔT1(t)) of a detection temperature T1(t) exceeds a tolerance level (TH2) after deciding that the detection temperature T1(t) sequentially obtained by a built-in temperature sensor S1 becomes steady from starting continuous machining of a workpiece W1.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5
