Abstract:
PURPOSE:To improve sensitivity and recording density by providing a layer consisting of a material having a small thermal conductivity and large specific heat in contact with an upper electrode layer. CONSTITUTION:This optical memory has a heat accumulation layer 5 consisting of the material having the low thermal conductivity than the thermal conductivity of the electrode layer (upper electrode) 2 on the side opposite to a substrate 4 on the outer side of said electrode layer 2 with a recording layer 1 consisting of a ferroelectric high-polymer film in-between. Namely, the change of the upper electrode 2 temp. with time is retarded to prolong the time when the upper layer 2 is in a high-temp. state by adding the above-mentioned heat accumulation layer 5 to the recording medium, by which the quantity of the heat permeated to the recording layer 1 is increased. Further, the layer 5 also plays the role of protecting the recording layer 1 against flaws, dust, dirt, etc., and improving the preservable stability of the recording layer 2. The recording density and sensitivity are improved in this way.
