Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent generation of internal shortcircuiting in a battery even when an impact is applied due to dropping. SOLUTION: A stepped insulator ring Al has a large diameter top part 4a and a small diameter bottom part 4b, is provided internally with a step part 4c, and furnished with at least one notch 4B in the bottom part 4b, wherein the peripheral edge 5a of a lid 5 is fastened to the step part 4c. This consolidated ring construction obtained A1 is arranged facing aside in a place near the top opening 2A of a blind cylindrical can 2 accommodating electrolyte and a set 1 of electrode plates 1 to which a current collector sheet 6 protruding upward is attached, and the sheet 6 is installed in the area till the bottom 5d of the lid 5 via the notch 4B and is spot welded. Then the ring construction A1 is inserted from the top opening 2A and placed upon the set of electrode plates 1 followed by fastening to accomplish a seal.
